Well isn't that Pinteresting...

What is Pinterest? In case you live under a rock and haven’t heard of Pinterest; it is part idea generator, part art show and part urban legend spinner all wrapped into one nifty cool place on the interwebs.

Need a recipe? Check Pinterest. Need a decorating idea? Check Pinterest. Need to feel a sense of self-loathing when you realize you aren’t nearly as creative as you thought you were? Well, I can get that almost anywhere, but peeking in on Pinterest is a great start.

I have pin boards full of crap that I will probably never actually attempt to create, but it makes me feel good that I at least tried. Even if, by try, I mean that I went the extra mile and clicked on a picture. I take my triumphs where I can, no matter how small.

I’m addicted and I have a suspicion that I am not alone. I even get a little thrill when someone re-pins one of my pins.  Yep, I like gettin’ me a little Pinterest love.  Clearly, I have self-esteem issues.

So, I’ve put together a little quiz to help you determine if you are in fact (like me) a Pinterest addict, all Jeff Foxworthy-esque, cuz that’s how I roll.

·        If you have ever sought out ideas on Pinterest for a wedding, and you aren’t even engaged…..you might be a Pinterest addict.

·        If you actually believe that you can make your teeth whiter by swishing your mouth out with peroxide…you might be a Pinterest addict.

·        If you have ever tried to make a paper anything out of coffee filters…you might be a Pinterest addict.

·        If you have tried to make cake in the microwave using only 3 ingredients…you might be a Pinterest addict.

·        If you know a 101 uses for Mason jars…you might be a Pinterest addict.

·        If at any time, you can close your eyes and picture Ryan Gosling speaking to you directly…you might be a Pinterest addict.

I could probably go on here, but this is seriously cutting into my Pinterest creeping time.

I’m not saying it’s ALL bad. I did get a seriously awesome recipe for ham and cheese sliders off there for a potluck last week. That little taste of success is what makes it so addicting; that and the idea that someday I really will make a sunburst mirror using paint sticks.

So if you are like me and a pinning addict, please, follow my boards. If you aren’t, but want to a good laugh at someone else who is, or might be, I direct you to the following sites:

Limitations

So, I've written blogs before; a couple of times actually. I've never been good at keeping up with them. I think it boiled down to not being up to keeping up with the Joneses.

You see, I have a regular set of blogs that I peruse every day, and I wish I could be like them. I want to be their friends.  I want my house to look like theirs.  I want perfectly coiffed children with smiling faces. I want to take stunning pictures that are artsy and cool.

For a thousand reasons, that is simply not me. You see; it comes down to this: I'm basically lazy (shhh…don’t tell anyone).  I admit that while I have fits of creativity; I get completely wrapped up in the thinking phase and never rarely move on to the doing phase.  So as badly as I want a blog about how I decorated my entire house for under $500 using up-cycled furnishings I found at Goodwill, or how I organized my pantry in three simple steps, it’s just not going to happen.

I figure I am not alone. Hence, the Red Headed Step Blog was born. She’s not like the others. She’s not the one you want to be, but she might be the one you are, if you’re brave enough to admit it.

Don’t get me wrong, I'm not giving myself an entire pass here. You may see posts where I actually do create, decorate and wipe the chocolate milk mustache off my kids before I take their pictures.  And, I really DO need to work on that lazy thing, but I’m not going to dwell on it.
